Berner Turf and Barenbrug, one of the world’s leading grass seed breeders, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement making Berner Turf the exclusive distributor of Barenbrug’s professional turf seed portfolio in Finland, Sweden and Norway, with cooperation also extending to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The parties will also begin cooperation in consumer grass seed in Finland.
The partnership strengthens Berner Turf’s Nordic and Baltic offering with a globally recognised seed brand. Berner Turf was established in 2025 after Berner acquired the operations of Indigrow AB in Sweden and Indigrow AS in Norway, expanding its long-standing distribution of professional turf products for golf courses, football fields and landscaping. Through the new agreement, Berner Turf will offer Barenbrug’s full professional turf seed range, including the well-known yellow-bags, to golf courses, football pitches, municipalities and landscaping professionals across all six countries.
As part of the cooperation, Barenbrug will also provide technical support across the entire region, ensuring that Berner Turf’s customers benefit from world-class agronomic expertise alongside the seed portfolio.
The new agreement builds on an already established relationship between the companies. Berner’s agricultural businesses, Farmer’s Berner in Finland and Gullviks in Sweden, have a long-standing cooperation with Barenbrug in forage seeds, which now extends naturally into the professional turf and consumer grass seed segments.
“This partnership is a milestone for Berner Turf. By combining Barenbrug’s well-known portfolio with our advisory and science-driven approach, we can deliver solutions that bring more value to our customers,” says Saila Innanen, Business Manager, Berner Turf.
“By deepening our cooperation with Barenbrug, we strengthen our ability to find the best possible solutions for our Nordic customers,” adds Kalle Erkkola, EVP, Berner.
The cooperation enters into force during the 2026 season, with full portfolio availability for the 2027 growing season.
