It all began with the import of herring in 1883

Berner’s story began in 1883 with the import of herring. Norwegian entrepreneur Sören Berner came to Helsinki to explore the market of a city of 40,000 inhabitants and decided to start a business in Finland by importing herring directly from the fishing grounds in Stavanger, Norway, to Helsinki.
