We operate ethically

At Berner, maintaining a high level of business ethics is the starting point for all our operations.

Good governance and ethical operating principles

All of our operations are based on our Code of Conduct for employees and suppliers. Our Code of Conduct represents Berner’s values – work, integrity and humanity – as well as the generally accepted guidelines of conduct as documented in the UN Global Compact’s ten principles.

All Berner employees are obligated to comply with the Code of Conduct and immediately report all suspicions or observations of inconsistencies with or violations of the Code of Conduct. We encourage our employees to primarily report their suspicions without any fear of retaliation.

Employees who wish to report suspected violations anonymously can do it via the WhistleB reporting channel. The channel also allows our external stakeholders to report potential suspicions concerning conduct that violates the law and our Code of Conduct. The service is available in eight languages.

Open communications and stakeholder relationships

Our goal is to communicate about our operations openly, in a timely manner and with a stakeholder-oriented approach. Our communication principles are reliability, openness, clarity and interaction.

In addition to our website, we share information about our operations on our social media channels, Facebook and Instagram, and by publishing press releases. Our business units and brands have their own websites and social media channels.

In a company with four business areas, the number of different stakeholders is significant. Naturally, stakeholders’ wishes, expectations and the issues they raise also vary a great deal. One broad topic that stands out strongly among several stakeholder groups across all our business units is sustainability.

Each year, we assess our employees’ satisfaction with our internal communication channels and topics. Our business units also carry out general customer satisfaction surveys annually.
